Currently the biggest focus point is the balance around 3 things.
Scrap, Buildings, and resources.
A lot of the early game, what i am considering your first few travels. goes pretty smooth if you are well.. ME... i just upgrade a couple things and just be on my merrily way coding and upgrading every so often. As any idle game. I can't count how many times i have restarted the game by this time.
My current phone run is up to stage 835. I traveled last night from 400. I have not even started to upgrade my units with time, thats purely off of scrap. I have 2 extractors level 108 with 1 amplifiers connected to both of them. I got the luckiest map of the 10 that can spawn for new players. 2 metal deposits corner to corner. Why not another amp next to it? Left them for labs and an amp next to those.
But with this run i can see some issues. A lot of issues. The speed at which the game is progressing is a a bit too fast. I expect jumps from like 400 to 450-500, depending how far you pushed in the run. A lot of this is mostly because the units... are not in the game yet. So i have not fully made the enemy units in later levels harder.
So in an upcoming patch, Everything is changing. Almost all square root scaling is being removed, at least that's what i am testing in my new internal build. (time for a new wipe boys!!!) The curve is going to be less like this... 1..2..4.7.13.18.28.50..140 and more like this... 1.2.3.4.5.6.7.9.11.13.15.18.21.24 etc.
There is a couple reasons to this also. Currently just upgrading one extractor and buffing it is a bit too strong. To make other metal deposits important to upgrade, this will help out a lot.
Along with that, i am going to go ahead and create the veteran units of the tier 1 list. The enemies are going to start using these units after stage 100. Along with that, the enemies are going to also get their own variation of "research" also. Every xxx levels, the enemies are going to get a little stronger too.
So i decided instead of just doing "whats being worked on" posts, I will write these dev logs. It will cover what some goals are and maybe talk about some more. As i get more comfortable with this, maybe it won't look so messy and be quite presentable.
